Diving into their history, Riester was founded in 1948 by Rudolf Riester. In 1948, they manufactured their first mercury blood-pressure monitoring device, which was later sold internationally. In the years of 1950 – 1960 the company took its products international. They started working on expanding their small line of initial products. The first products were stethoscopes and diagnostic instruments for the ear, including otoscopes and ophthalmoscopes. In 1964 Riester created the very first digital blood pressure monitor. To show their commitment to the highest quality of manufacturing standards in the world, Riester received ISO 9001 certification in 1997.
